The blue tarp of Sarlat...
I put the ugly blue tarp up in January to stop rain from leaking into the stonework while we wait for permission to renew it...

Great Flirtations...

The sight of his old friend Denise, paying a visit to our new French property just as she did several times during his kittyhood to our house in Italy, has brought to the fore all of Arcadio’s prodigious powers of flirtation.

For Denise - as he does for all women - Arcadio preens, sidles, cuddles, nestles, purrs, and just plain shows off.

For her part Denise is a cat lover who is more than happy to have our cat climb on her bed, sleep on her coat, and snuggle on her lap in order to knit his claws fervently in the folds of her loose woolen sweater.

Denise does not tote a large handbag; otherwise he would undoubtedly invade the interior to inspect its contents, emerging as he usually does smelling of various feminine perfumes and emollients.

In a supreme moment of cat machismo, Arcadio pranced and danced among the thin wobbly branches of a spindly yellow peach tree while I watched on, knowing full well that it was his particular feline manner of ‘impressing the girls’.

As Shakespeare might say, what a piece of work is cat!
