Thanks to the many of you who have taken time to send condolences to Francesco.
I imagine as I write that he and his family are gathering for his father’s funeral, to be held at the Sanctuary of the Spanish Sisters at Collevalenza – the expansive religious facility near their ancestral home that Giancarlo’s grandmother and aunts helped to found through donations of Bianchini land and money.
You might like to see the photos of their father that Francesco and his siblings are posting on Facebook. Here is a link: http://www.facebook.com/fantasiobarocco?sk=photos
It is a grey and dreary day at La Placette Haute, where Arcadio and I are (again) holding down the fort while Francesco is away in Italy. It is a sad lead-up to Christmas, but he will return on Wednesday and I am hoping we can still manage some kind of festive holiday.
I have a turkey to cook for Christmas and the wood stove provides a cheery glow. Sometime tomorrow or thereafter I will sneak out to buy a tree to decorate. If the three of us can be together - happily and safely - then all truly will be well.
Peace on Earth; goodwill to everyone.
